Passenger Information Systems

Passenger information systems are the key communications link between transportation operators and the traveling public. Along with system reliability, safety, and appearance, the ability to provide accurate information on arrival and departure times is a key component of customer satisfaction.

Passenger information systems, located in stations as well as within the vehicles, are used to display information that is relevant to the passengers. This information may include both predictions about arrival and departure times, as well as information about the nature and causes of disruptions. All information can also be viewed remotely via a web portal.

The displays at the stops or stations convey information on:

  • The timetable
  • Estimated arrival/departure times
  • Number of the public transportation line and all the other lines that stop there
  • Delays and other traffic information
  • General information (time, weather, etc)

The onboard displays convey information on the name of the next stop, other transportation lines that stop there, general information.
