UTI implemented the management system with the Piata Sudului Passage

UTI finalized the integrated management system at Piata Sudului Passage in Bucharest. This EUR 625.000 contract is part of the complex project of building Piata Sudului Passage, won by Astaldi through public tender and having the Bucharest Municipality as Beneficiary. UTI was involved as declared subcontractor.

Our company had the responsibility to implement state-of-the-art technologies that meet the needs for safety and information of the drivers and the pedestrians, as well as the need to reduce traffic congestion in the area.

UTI implemented a solution formed of the following modules: video surveillance system, urban and pedestrian information system, video processing and storage system, software applications for video analytics and incident detection in the passage, communications system.

To the purpose of monitoring the Piata Sudului Passage as a whole and in detail, if incidents should occur, our specialists installed 24 fixed video cameras. This equipment is controlled by Road Police operators, located in the Bucharest Traffic Management Center.

UTI also installed variable message signs that inform the drivers if accidents took place in the tunnels, if works are executed and for how long, if congestion occurs in the passage or if the weather conditions are unfavorable.

Variable message signs were installed in the pedestrian tunnels as well, in order to inform the citizens how to get to the locations of interest in the area, the connections with the public surface transportation system or the underground one.
