UTI strengthens its presence in Bulgaria and opens a local office

In June 2015, UTI has founded a new company in Bulgaria, UTI Groupa Bulgaria EOOD, where it has been developing 2 important ITS projects: maintenance and modernization of the traffic lights system in Sofia and integrated public transportation management system in Burgas, as well as a video analysis system for the underground stations in Sofia.

Bulgaria is a top interest market for UTI that has identified its development potential and the need for solutions that meet the highest standards of life quality. UTI’s intent is to contribute, through the SmartCity solutions, to transforming the cities in Bulgaria in intelligent cities, adjusted to the present day living standards, and to actively participate in the development of the infrastructure in Bulgaria.

UTI Groupa Bulgaria aims to develop projects, in partnership with important local companies or individually, in the fields of intelligent transportation solutions, building management, e-Government solutions (public acquisitions system, electronic vignette), sports and entertainment solutions, environmental engineering (water treatment plants). Another important goal is to develop strong public-private partnerships.

To enforce its position as a competitive player on the Bulgarian market, UTI participated in The CITY Forum Challenges for the Bulgarian cities 2014-2020 in June 2015. Adrian Florea, UTI Vice-president, CEO of the Systems Branch and coordinator of the Smart City program, presented the solution portfolio that UTI provides, emphasizing the traffic and transportation solutions. According to a study conducted by the Universities in Vienna, Delft and Ljubljana, the cities in Bulgaria deal with important mobility issues. The solution UTI proposes is to implement ITS (intelligent transportation solutions) projects that meet the citizens’ comfort and safety needs, as well as the environment protection requests.

On the occasion of the launch of the Bulgarian company, Tiberiu Urdareanu, UTI President, participated in official meetings with representatives of the private and governmental institutions, and expressed UTI’s intent to get involved in the sports infrastructure development program in Bulgaria, by absorbing European Funds and as part of PPTs, to support Sofia for 2018 when the city will be European Sports Capital.

UTI has local offices in Poland, Azerbaijan, Moldova and intends to extend its presence in other markets, according to the strategy established at the beginning of 2014.
