METRO Cash&Carry opened its first hypermarket in Serbia and Montenegro

News issued by “Jurnalul National” magazine on January 22nd, 2005

On January 4th, 2005, opened the first METRO Cash&Carry outlet in Serbia. The 8000 square metre hypermarket offers a range of 20000 products, being the first of the six METRO outlets to be opened in this country.

As with the 21 METRO hypermarkets in Romania, UTI Retail Solutions fitted Metro Belgrade with the security system and the pneumatic mail. The security system, comprising antitheft and video surveillance, access control and wire protection, includes state-of-the-art equipment, produced mainly by the American company Tyco Fire and Security.

For the first time, a new video configuration was implemented, containing two rail-type sliding cameras, which means pro-active surveillance, with human intervention and immediate results.

After METRO Kishinev, Belgrade represents a new step to the extension of UTI activities outside Romania.
