UTI will provide an intelligent traffic management system in Galati

The purpose of the project UTI will develop is to ease traffic, to increase the safety of the traffic participants, to reduce accidents and traffic jams, as well as to reduce pollution.

Galați, one of the most important economic sites in Romania, is under constant pressure due to high road traffic. UTI has met the needs identified by the City Hall by designing a complex traffic management system that will consist of traffic lights, road signaling, radio communications, video surveillance, automated license plate recognition, fault management. All systems will be integrated within a cutting edge Control Center.
The implemented system will comply with the European norms and will allow the identification of the traffic values in real time, communication among the intersections, adjustment of the green light times depending on the traffic values to ease vehicle flows in all the 35 main intersections of the city.

26 pedestrian crossings will be managed adaptively, will be equipped with green light call buttons and will be interconnected with the vehicle intersections to maintain smooth traffic flows.

All intersections will be coordinated by a central software and will be monitored in the Traffic Control Center. The gathered data will be transmitted to the control center through a wireless communication network.

Among the benefits of the system, mention must be made of: reduction of the time spent in traffic, smooth traffic flow and jam reduction, increase of the safety level, reduction of accidents and pollution reduction.

UTI has implemented complex traffic management systems in Romania (Bucharest, Craiova, Iasi, Zalau, Baia Mare, Brasov, Arad, Ploiesti, Medias) and abroad  in Poland (Szczecin, Kalisz) and Bulgaria (Sofia).
