Status visit for the ITS project that UTI is developing in Burgas

In February 2015, UTI signed a contract to implement an integrated public transportation system: automated fare collection and ticketing, public information, video surveillance for Burgasbus – the public transportation company in Burgas.

As the project develops under the best circumstance and the parties involved have identified future collaboration opportunities, in June UTI welcomed a delegation of representatives of the City Hall of Burgas and of the Burgasbus public transportation company.

The status of the project was analyzed and the ticket validation machines to be installed in Burgas were tested during the meeting. The project, whose main aim is to optimize and render efficient the public transportation, as well as to increase the passengers’ comfort and safety, will conclude in March 2016.

In order to showcase UTI capabilities in the ITS field, the Bulgarian group visited two of the milestone projects UTI developed the card formatting cards at RATB, the National Arena, as well as the traffic management center in Bucharest.

One of UTI’s strategic goals is to extend its presence in the international markets, Bulgaria being one of the countries of major interest. The project in Burgas is the second ITS (Intelligent Transportation Solutions) project developed in Bulgaria, following the maintenance and modernization services provided for the traffic management system in Sofia, signed in 2013. UTI has also implemented other various projects on the Bulgarian market: the airfield lighting installation for Varna Airport, commercial security solutions for Metro and H&M in Sofia and the digital tachograph solution implemented at national level.
