UTI contributes to the modernization of the defense industry

In February 2014, UTI launched the development of the command, control and communications system for the HAWK surface-to-air missiles integrated in a land-based aerial defense system. The project was completed and delivered to the Ministry of National Defense in February 2015.

The project was incredibly complex and integrated 4 major systems: The Report and Control Center, the Surface-to-Air Missile Operations Center, the Fire Distribution Center, the HAWK Fire Unit. Each system included various capabilities developed by the UTI team: basic software and hardware systems, voice and data communication subsystems, non-CIS software subsystems.

The main objectives of the Command, Control and Communications System are:

  • Ensuring centralized command, prioritized according to command echelons
  • Ensuring the use of HAWK in a decentralized / autonomous regime
  • Dislocating HAWK in support of multi-national coalition forces acting inside or outside the national territory.
  • Ensuring interoperability with command and control systems similar to those of NATO
  • Command and control at the CORSA, CDF, PCP command echelons

The system developed by the UTI team can be used in time of peace, crisis or war and is compatible with other surface-to-air missile systems of the Romanian army and NATO member states.
