UTI GRUP will build three new water treatment plants in Mehedinţi County

UTI Grup will build three new water purification stations in Mehedinţi County, servicing the towns of Strehaia, Cujmir and Gura Văii, which so far have not had a water collection and purification system, waste water being discharged directly in the environment. The agreement for the construction of the three objectives was awarded by public tender by SC SECOM SA Drobeta Turnu Severin, subsequent to which the bid submitted by the association of UTI GRUP and FGG Lucas Construct was declared winner.

The total value of the agreement is Ron 17 million + VAT (approximately Eur 3.9 million), and the design and construction works for the three stations will be completed within 12 months since the commencement order. The program is funded by European funds, by means of the Sectoral Operational Programme – Environment.

Within the project, UTI will ensure the design and execution of the works, the receipt of authorizations and appraisals necessary, the provision, installation and testing of technical and technological equipment, the commissioning, the beneficiary personnel training as well as warranty maintenance services.

The capacity of the three newly-built purification plants, measured in equivalent number of inhabitants (one equivalent inhabitant (e.i.) represents the biodegradable organic load with a 5-day biochemical oxygen consumption of 60g/day) will be: Strehaia – 9850 e.i., Cujmir- 8000 e.i. and Gura Văii– 2100 e.i.

The benefits of this project are multiple, both for the inhabitants of these three localities, by increasing the quality of natural, terrestrial and underground resources and reducing the risks of illnesses caused by uncontrolled pollution, and for the environment, by protecting the surrounding ecosystem and reducing the negative impact of pollution and waste water infiltration in the hydrographic network of Mehedinți county.

Also, these projects contribute significantly to the sustainable development of the region and the improvement of the national image, by alignment to European environmental standards.
