UTI will build a new terminal for the International Airport of Iași

March 2 was the day of the official commencement of the construction works to the new passenger terminal of the International Airport of Iași, which will be completed within five months from this date.

The new terminal is the last stage from the project entitled “Development and Modernization of the International Airport of Iași”, funded by the European Commission; the project includes the construction of a 2400m take-off/landing strip, the beaconing appliance and the rollways, the expansion of the platform and of the marginal road and the construction of a new terminal (T3). The total value of the project is Eur 56.7 million.

The design and execution of the constructions, appliances and systems ensuring the operation of the passenger terminal, a strategic project for the social and economic development of the city and of the north-eastern area of the country, will be carried out by UTI Grup.

The new terminal stretches on an area of 3600 square meters, it has 6 check-in desks and a processing capacity of 360 passengers per hour. The airport will be endowed with equipment and systems that observes international and European regulations of airport comfort and security. Having state-of-the-art endowments and meeting the highest norms of airport security, Iași Airport hopes to soon become an important hub, connecting the region with main cities in Europe and everywhere else.

UTI Grup has experience and solid competences in the airport services area, proven in the successful implementation of similar projects, such as the two departure terminals of the International “Henri Coanda” Airport in 2011-2013, the modernization of the International “Avram Iancu” Airport in Cluj-Napoca, the rehabilitation and transformation of the International “Aurel Vlaicu – Baneasa” Airport in a modern hub dedicated to private air transport, the construction of the landing/take-off strip and the beaconing appliance of the Varna Airport in Bulgaria and, recently, the Airport in Iași, with one of the most modern air strips in Romania, of a total length of 2,400m.
