Reabilitation and modernization of Municipal Emergency Hospital in Ramnicu Valcea

Valcea Emergency Hospital is the main health facility in Valcea County, ensuring emergency and specialized medical services for a population of over 400,000 people.
In 2013, the hospital management decided to undertake a vast program of modernization and rehabilitation, co-financed by European Funds trough the Regional Operational Program (ROP) 2007-2013, Priority 3 – Improving social infrastructure, Key area of intervention 3.1 – Rehabilitation / modernization / equipping of health services.

The rehabilitation program was led by UTI Grup in partnership with Romconstruct Holding Group. The works were completed in 2016.

The project’s goal was to improve the comfort of the patients and the quality of services provided by the medical teams, in order to improve the hospital overall performance.

The works provided

During the project, the A and B areas of the hospital were completely rehabilitated and modernized and endowed with medical and non-medical equipment.

  • Procurement services
  • Construction compliance documents and authorization management
  • Design, execution, commissioning and testing of the building technical equipment (HVAC, electrical system, security system, fire alarm, and prevention system)
  • Design, execution, commissioning and testing of the medical gas system (compressed air filling station, oxygen station, vacuum station) and medical ramps in each room.

The Challenge

As the hospital continued to function during the construction works, the team had to ensure the continuity and functioning of all building systems to carry out everyday operations in compliance with the hospital rules and sanitary requirements.
