BUCHAREST, Romania – Overpass management
The Basarab Overpass is the largest cable-stayed bridge in Europe and the daily traffic reaches 80,000 vehicles. In order to assure a smooth traffic, under total safety conditions, an intelligent traffic management system was required.
Components
- Dynamic information system of the drivers, using variable message signs
- Dynamic warning system on the weather and air quality
- Traffic incident detection system
- Tramway right of way system
All the above-mentioned subsystems are integrated with the Bucharest Traffic Management System. At the central level, parts of the solution are integrated within the Common Graphic Interface, namely the traffic incident detection software and the video surveillance software.
The images recorded by the video cameras are stored and can be viewed within the Control Center. The same happens with the data collected by the weather and air quality measuring station, while the messages displayed on the variable sign displays can be modified automatically or manually from the Control Center.
